CityU Gallery is hosting an exhibition, "Ming Qing in the Eyes of Ming-Qing", showing around 80 items of antique Chinese calligraphy, paintings, musical instruments and daily commodities from Ming and Qing dynasties from 5 to 26 September.

More than 50 students from CityU's Faculty of Business took part in the first Advanced Management Programme study tour to the US staged in collaboration with the Haas School of Business of UC Berkeley from 18 to 22 August.

Students from CityU and Tianjin University engaged in a debating competition entitled "Does economic globalisation result in cultural globalisation?" on 17 July to examine the interaction of Eastern and Western cultural influences in Hong Kong and Tianjin.

The Chinese Civilisation Centre is holding an exhibition of ancient amulets entitled “Chinese Charms: Arts, Religion and Folk Belief”. The exhibits include about 150 artefacts dating from the Han Dynasty to early 20th Century.

Five outstanding students were selected by The Dragon Foundation to participate in the Global Citizenship Programme in Switzerland and US under the theme “Ethical Interdependence”.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Civilisation Centre of CityU, a two-day conference titled“Passing the Flame:Teaching and Learning of Chinese Civilisation”opened on 2 July.

Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, was awarded the Certificate of Foreign Member of CAE at its 9th General Assembly, held in Beijing on 23 June, in recognition of his contribution to reliability design for microelectronics products and systems.

The Playful Media Exhibition, which showcases both the artistic and technological aspects of creative media students' digital media creations, was held from 16 to 20 June at CityU.

CityU Gallery will present 30 contemporary Chinese calligraphy masterpieces by the internationally renowned artist David Chan from 30 May 2008 to 27 June 2008.
