With an aim to promote science knowledge in the community, the College of Science has organised the CityU Science Video Competition 2023, which has attracted over 150 teams of secondary students to create interesting videos that explain scientific principles or phenomena. The winning teams gathered for an award ceremony on 28 October 2023 to celebrate their achievement.
Professor Raymond Chan, Dean of CityU’s College of Science, welcomed all winners and the guests to the ceremony. “Science is everywhere and closely related to our daily lives”, he said. “Through this competition, we wish to arouse the public interest in science and help students enhance their 3Cs, i.e. creativity, cooperation, and communication skills.”
The CityU Science Video Competition welcomes all full-time secondary students to submit a creative video about science. This year, we received some interesting videos featuring food science, such as the chemical mystery of tea and bread baking, the physics principles applied in playing snooker, and the inertia in our daily lives. Under intense competition, our judging panel eventually chose 4 Gold Awards, 4 Silver Awards and 4 Bronze Awards. The “Most-liked Video” has received over 700 votes publicly!
