Nine scholars from CityU are awarded the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Research Grants Council (NSFC/RGC) Collaborative Research Scheme (CRS) and Joint Research Scheme (JRS) funding for the year 2023/24. Among them, 3 awardees are from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, and Professor Alex Jen was CityU’s only awardee of the NSFC/RGC Collaborative Research Scheme (CRS).

The NSFC/RGC JRS and CRS are crucial in fostering collaborations between Mainland and Hong Kong researchers across various fields. The CRS offers a maximum grant of HK$3.6 million per successful Hong Kong applicant for larger-scale projects, while the JRS offers a maximum grant of HK$1.25 million per successful Hong Kong applicant.
