JUPAS (HKDSE) Applicants (2025 Entry)

Minimum Entrance Requirements

For admission to bachelor’s degree programmes at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), applicants must meet the General Entrance Requirements AND the department requirements (if applicable). The levels/grades indicated below are the minimum acceptable but possession of the qualifications in no way guarantees acceptance.

  • Level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language; and
  • Level 2 in Mathematics#; and
  • Attained in Citizenship and Social Development; and
  • Level 3 in TWO elective subjects* (excluding Applied Learning subjects)

# Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) cannot be used to meet the Mathematics requirement.

* Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) and “other languages” (at grade E or above) can be used to meet the elective requirement. If students take both M1 and M2, they are counted as one subject only.

Assessment of JUPAS (HKDSE) Applications

For applicants who have fulfilled the minimum entrance requirements, various types of admission score are calculated to facilitate selection of applicants for admission. Presented below are the main admission scores used by individual programmes. Concurrent consideration may be given to other factors, such as band choice and interview performance. For applicants with the same scores or score ranges, reference will be made to other information ?(e.g. other admission scores, relevant subjects, band choices, interview performance). For details, please refer to ?"Other Considerations" ?for individual programmes.

Remarks:

  • Besides Category A elective subjects, Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) and Category C other language subjects (at grade E or above) can be used to meet the elective requirement. If students take both M1 and M2, the two modules are counted as one subject only.
  • Applied Learning subjects are not counted as elective subjects.
  • As a guide for applicants, a minimum score of 21 (aggregate scores for four core + two elective subjects without weightings applied) is normally expected for successful admission, based on past data.

JUPAS (HKDSE) Admission Scores

Please visit here for the admission scores (with weightings applied where appropriate) of applicants who have received offers in the Main Round of the JUPAS admission exercise. Students admitted through special routes (e.g. Other Experiences and Achievements in Competitions/Activities, Principal's Nominations, Sports Talents, Disabled Applicants and Home Affairs Bureau Multi‐faceted Excellence Scholarship) are not included.

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) students must apply for admission to first-year studies in a bachelor's degree programme. For the departments offering one major only, students are admitted directly to the major in the first year. For other departments, students are admitted with an undeclared major and will enter a major after one year of study.

The top 40% of students (based on CGPA with no failed grades and completion of at least 30 credit units including College/Department required courses) have a free choice of majors after one year of study. Other students are allocated a major subject to the availability of places and the selection criteria set by individual majors.
