Young Scholar Forum

Call for Abstracts

Overview
The Young Scholar Forum was established by the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law (CCCL) to provide junior scholars with a platform to present on topics related to Chinese Law, Comparative Law or International Lawdiscuss their work with peers and receive feedback on their research from the City University of Hong Kong law faculty.?The Forum aims to connect participants with similar research interests to facilitate fruitful collaborations.

 

Schedules
The Young Scholar Forum hosts four sessions per year at the following times. The sessions will be held virtually on Zoom.? There will be one speaker per session. The speaker will present for 45 minutes, followed by a 15 minutes discussion.

17:30 – 18:30 (HKT), Last Thursday in March every year

17:30 – 18:30 (HKT), Last Thursday in June every year

17:30 – 18:30 (HKT), Last Thursday in September every year

17:30 – 18:30 (HKT), Last Thursday in December every year

*The times of the sessions may be subject to change.

 

Eligibility
Submissions are invited from junior scholars on any topic that relates to Chinese Law, Comparative Law or International Law.?Junior scholars are encouraged to submit an abstract of an unpublished work, but we consider abstracts of recently published work too.?There is NO requirement to submit a complete paper to the CCCL before or after the presentation.

Eligible applicants should be doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and full-time academic staffs (teaching and/or research) who have not held an academic position for more than 6 years.??

 

Submission
The Call for Abstracts for the Young Scholar Forum is currently open.? We accept submissions on a rolling basis.

To apply to the Forum, please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words reflecting the work that you wish to present and a copy of your CV here.

About the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law
The Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law (CCCL) was established in 1994 as an interdisciplinary research institute in affiliation with the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong (CityU Law). As one of the world’s oldest research centres on Chinese and comparative legal studies as a discipline, it is devoted to research in both fundamental and cutting-edge issues in the relevant areas.? The Centre is blessed by its location in Hong Kong which is an international financial and legal hub under the “One Country, Two Systems”.
