CityUHK Department of Media and Communication and Peking University School of Journalism and Communication launch a student exchange programme

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), one of the most international universities in the world, continues to forge dynamic alliances with esteemed universities in mainland China and overseas.

The Department of Media and Communication (COM) of CityUHK reached a cooperation agreement with the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University to initiate an undergraduate student exchange programme. This collaboration aims to enhance exchange and co-operation between students from both universities. The agreement was signed by Professor Christine Huang Yi-hui, Head and Chair Professor of COM, and Professor Chen Gang, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University, on 11 June. According to the agreement, both parties will select three undergraduate students each academic year to participate in a semester-long exchange programme at the other party’s university to help foster cultural and academic exchange and nurture a new generation of communication talent.

Professor Chen said, “This is the inaugural undergraduate exchange programme between the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University with a university in Hong Kong. I believe our collaboration will bring vitality to the development of journalism and communication education at both universities and the media industry in both places.

Professor Huang said, “Through this collaboration between COM and the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University, we hope to provide students from both universities a deeper understanding of the media ecology in mainland China and Hong Kong during the exchange programme. This programme aims to facilitate academic exchange in the field of media and communication between the two places and contribute to the development of journalism and communication.”
