Professor Luk Kwai-man, Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has once again been recognised by IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (IEEE AP-S). He was honoured with the 2025 IEEE AP-S Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the education of antenna theory, design and applications, following his receipt of the John Kraus Antenna Award in 2017.

IEEE AP-S, a leading international organisation in the field of antenna, established the Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award in 2000 to recognise the individual who has given outstanding service to education in antennas and propagation. This prestigious honour not only highlights Professor Luk's remarkable academic achievements but also underscores his deep passion and unwavering dedication to education.

In 2017, Professor Luk received the John Kraus Antenna Award from the IEEE AP-S, acknowledging his contributions to the invention of L-shaped Probe Fed Microstrip Antenna and the Magneto-electric Dipole Antenna for Wireless Communications.

Having dedicated over 30 years to teaching and research at CityUHK, Professor Luk expressed deep gratitude for the University's unwavering support. He acknowledges that this support has not only brought international recognition to his research but has also provided students with a cutting-edge academic environment, enabling him to nurture the next generation of talent, impart knowledge, and inspire them to innovate and explore.

"Innovation stems from the courage to experiment. I strive to guide students forward, helping them push boundaries and achieve success. I sincerely hope to give back to society by sharing my knowledge and experience, nurturing local talent, and advancing Hong Kong's development in antenna and electromagnetic field research," said Professor Luk.

Professor Luk's research interests include design of patch, planar and dielectric resonator antennas, microwave and antenna measurements, and computational electromagnetics. In 2008, he led the establishment of CityUHK’s State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves and developed it into an international hub for academic exchanges.

Renowned in the international academic community, Professor Luk has been elected as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE), the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the IEEE, and the Electromagnetics Academy. Since December 2024, he has been serving as the Senior Vice President of the HKAE, further demonstrating his leadership and influence in the field.

Professor Luk has also received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2022); the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress (2019); the State Technological Invention Award (second honour) (2011), among others, all of which underscore his outstanding contributions to scientific research.
