City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), renowned as one of the most international and excellent universities, is actively cultivating strategic alliances with premier regional and global universities. It seeks to enhance international outreach and understanding, developing the next generation of leaders and scholars with a global outlook.

Lucy Cavendish College, one of the largest constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, has a reputation for innovation and is home to a vibrant student community drawn from over 80 countries. The College seeks to open the Cambridge door to exceptional students with leadership potential and an enterprising mindset, particularly those from disadvantaged or under-represented backgrounds. Its students are committed to making a positive impact on society and playing a leading role in addressing global issues.

In addition to signing MoUs with the University of Cambridge on 3 May, Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President, and his senior management delegation signed an MoU with Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, President of Lucy Cavendish College on the same day. It was witnessed by Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to the Council at CityUHK, and Professor David Cardwell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Planning of the University of Cambridge.

The MoU aims to bolster collaboration between the two institutions through visiting student and scholar schemes. It is intended that under the MoU, CityUHK students will have the opportunity to study at Lucy Cavendish College for one year as part of their undergraduate programme.

“The alliance between Lucy Cavendish College and CityUHK presents an unparalleled opportunity for CityUHK undergraduate students to immerse themselves in a year-long study experience at Lucy Cavendish College. The College's mission is to admit students who are studying courses focused on solving global challenges, including sustainable development and clean energy. This aligns perfectly with CityUHK's strategic areas, such as One Health and Smart City," said President Boey.

“We will be delighted to welcome approved students and scholars from CityUHK into our immersive living-and-learning global community,” said Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins. “The synergy between the missions of our two organisations is powerful and we hope, together, to be able to develop and shape the leaders of tomorrow.”

CityUHK is currently collaborating with 21 leading UK universities in the Russell Group, including the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the University of Glasgow and the University of Exeter.
