President Professor Way Kuo commended City University of Hong Kong (CityU) students for promoting awareness about global poverty and hunger at the start of a 20-hour fast on 13 October called Famine 20 organised by the Social Services team of the Students’ Union.

 

About 260 CityU students were abstaining from food for 20 hours to raise money for the charity World Vision Hong Kong. Professor Kuo showed his support by fasting for 20 hours during the day, too.

 

Famine 20 aims to raise CityU students’ awareness about social issues regarding poverty. The theme of this year’s event was “Natural Hazards”.
