In 2023, the global gas sensor market is expected to exceed HK$ 1,100 billion, and China is the world’s largest sensor market. However, there is a big conflict between the huge high-tech sensor needs and the current low-tech sensor supply in China. High-tech sensor imports account for 80% of sensor use in China. We think this presents a business opportunity.

The SuperYoung Sensor Tech Team focuses on the development of environmental and biomedical gas sensors based on our original technology accumulation on 2D nanomaterials, solid electrolytes, integrated circuits, intelligent algorithms, etc.

In view of the current sensor technology and market status, we proposed two important strategies to develop a new generation of high-performance sensors. On one hand, we use novel wafer-level 2D materials for sensor chips to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of fabricated sensors; and on the other hand, we conduct interdisciplinary optimisation of sensor chip design integrated with machine learning algorithms and big data services to provide more trustworthy and convenient sensor products.

We will develop new-generation, anti-interference, multifunctional gas sensor arrays to accurately detect formaldehyde, ethanol, toluene, VOC, toxic gases, etc. simultaneously or singly. The provided multiple detections do not interfere with each other, and the high precision is comparable to that achieved by equipment worth of hundreds of thousands of HK dollars. We use our 2D material technology to realize all the above high performance enhancement at a low cost of several hundred HK dollars.

We also provide customised setups for special applications, such as indoor air quality monitors, air pollution monitors, food freshness monitoring boxes, and UAV toxic gas detectors. The high-precision multifunctional sensing arrays we developed are suitable for diverse environmental and biomedical applications, such as smart city, precision medicine, modern agriculture, indoor safety, toxic detection and industrial safety. Our team has more than 30 IPs for 2D materials and sensing technologies.
