Novel Reusable Antivirus, Non-Toxic, Visible-light-driven Photocatalytic ZIF-8 Loaded Fabric for Air Cleaning

 

This project proposes a novel nanofiber-based, auto-sterilising photocatalytic fabric to protect users against harmful airborne pollutants, e.g. bacteria, viruses and particulate matter (PM). Electrospinning is used to fabricate photocatalyst-loaded nanofibers, as it is a quick, low-cost procedure and enables precise control of the nanofiber composition features. The team focuses on optimising the features of multi-functional nanofiber fabrics, such as permeability of air and water, PM trapping, and antibacterial/antiviral efficiency, with the aim of manufacturing effective and reusable fabric for protection against air pollutants, and bacteria/viruses.
