Rapid Detection Kits for common pathogens in aquaculture

In recent years, various diseases have emerged frequently in aquaculture, resulting in significant economic losses for the industry. It is much more difficult to visually observe the health status of aquacultured animals in the water than theat of terrestrial animals. It is unclear whether there are latent pathogens, and how and when to detect them. Moreover, there are no effective drugs available for treatment once diseases break out.

Given these critical issues in aquaculture, this project aims to address the “bottleneck” problem by utilising Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) technology to develop a reagent kit for rapid detection with easy operation, low cost and high sensitivity. The kit supports on-site testing and large-scale screening of common pathogens in aquaculture to facilitate early detection and prevention for aquaculture practitioners.
