New logo
Our new logo design presents a refreshed image of CityU, one that reflects our achievements and aspirations. It is consistent with our energetic, innovative and forward-looking character as well as our aspirations to be a global leader. The bold burgundy colouring and the dynamic shape perfectly capture the essence of CityU—Professional, Creative, For the World—while the 3D visual effects stemming from the gradation, or the sunray on the logo, add energy and vibrancy. A video on the new logo can be viewed here.

Under his leadership, the School successfully recruited talented academics who together are performing cutting-edge research and providing professional education in energy- and environment-related issues. He will continue to support SEE in his capacity as Chair Professor of Atmospheric Science. Professor Brimblecombe, who received his PhD from the University of Auckland and joined CityU in 2013, assumed his new role from 1 August 2015.

Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships New Media Art Exhibition
The “Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships New Media Art Exhibition” co-organised by the National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taipei and City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and supported by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, will be held from 15 August to 30 September, 10am to 7pm daily (except for Thursdays), at 3/F, Academic 3.

The exhibition is the first such collaboration between CityU and NPM following a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2014 for the promotion of cultural and art exchanges between Taiwan and Hong Kong. It features installations using a holographic projection, naked-eye 3D, augmented reality, and Kinect sensor technology as an interactive and digital art form to reinterpret the rise and fall of Tong-an ships in Chinese maritime history.

International Sustainable Campus Network
CityU has joined the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN). Membership will facilitate the University’s participation in global exchanges with other campus sustainability leaders. ISCN provides a global forum that supports leading colleges, universities, and corporate campuses in the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices for achieving sustainable campus operations and integrating sustainability into research and teaching.

International marine protection conference
CityU strives to promote academic exchange and collaboration in marine environmental science in order to enhance the awareness of marine environmental protection. An international conference in August at CityU will cover related interdisciplinary topics under the theme “Tools for Ocean Research”. The International Conference on Underwater Science, Technology and Education (ICUSTE) will be held from 19 to 22 August. The event is being organised by the Division of Earth Sciences of National Natural Science Foundation of China; CityU’s State Key Laboratory in Marine Pollution; and our School of Veterinary Medicine.
