President’s Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia

Quantum entanglement is an elusive idea for the general public but a fundamental concept in physics. Subsequent development in theory and experimental tests have confirmed the mind-boggling quantum concept but also laid down the foundation for the second quantum revolution. Professor Jeff Ou Zheyu, Chair Professor of Physics, Department of Physics, will unveil the mystery of quantum entanglement by interpreting the work of 2022 Nobel Prize winners and presenting perspectives on the potential applications of this second revolution. Deng Feiyang, a PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), has won the Student Prize at the Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC) 2022. He was supervised by Professor Luk Kwai-man, Chair Professor of EE. The winning paper is titled “Low-Profile Wideband High-Gain Open Resonator Antenna Based on Multi-Resonant Modes Cavity and Metasurface”.

Ge Tong, a Year 2 student in EE, has won the IET Prize 2022, which is organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). The IET Prizes were set up to recognise outstanding students who have achieved academic excellence and have been active in extracurricular activities, engineering institutions, and community services.
