TroVessional is a Chinese-Cantonese band formed in 2020 to express Chinese music boldly and innovatively.
The band has released Namyaam (Cantonese narrative singing) with new lyrics, including “Today”, “A Brief Talk on Namyaam”, and “Hua-yen”, which was commissioned by Zuni Icosahedron. Additionally, they have adapted Cantonese music to produce flute solo music, “Birds Returning to the Woods” and Cantonese music x Jazz “Dancing around the Ballroom with Aroma of Champagne”. Established just for three years, the band has been invited to appear on TV programmes multiple times and has collaborated with various groups to host online music shows.
This music theatre presents a story where the leading male character, after being eliminated from a singing competition, travels through time with the assistance of TroVessional. He journeys through the 1920s to the 1970s, exploring the development of Cantonese music through classic Cantonese songs such as “An Ingot of Gold”, “Birds Returning to the Woods”, and “The Beauties of Penang”.
