The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that a co-authored paper by our Dean, Prof. Kenneth Leung, JP, published in Maritime Engineering, has been awarded the prestigious Halcrow Prize by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the UK in April 2025. Annually, the Halcrow Prize is presented to authors from both industry and academia who have produced a publication in one of the ICE journals judged by their peers to be of exceptional quality and benefit to the civil engineering, construction and materials science community.

Co-authored by 51 researchers from around the world, this timely review article provides an update on the state of the art of the field of coastal eco-engineering, identifies major knowledge gaps, and calls for intersectoral and trans-sectoral research, knowledge exchange and capacity building to advance eco-engineering for promoting marine biodiversity, thereby contributing to sustainable development.
