On 28 November 2023, Professor Bin HU from Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary, Canada, delivered a seminar entitled ‘How Large Language Model and ChatGPT Reset the Landscape of Research, Student Training and Education System’.

In this lecture, Professor Hu introduced the recent efforts of his team in developing a second generation of music therapy platform based on Ambulosono and WisdomWave. In the beginning, Prof. HU gave a background that patients with many brain disorders such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer’s disease can exhibit remarkable, albeit transient, recovery from lost mobility or memory in response to music. It is believed that the human brain has developed deep learning neural networks that can effectively and effortlessly convert music perception into signals for movement initiation or memory recall. Next, Prof. HU presents the platform they developed that harnesses the synergistic powers among large language models (LLM), music perception neuroscience, artificial deep learning neural networks, and neurological interventions for patients living with Parkinson's and Dementia.

Moreover, Professor Hu presents pioneering work in the field of music therapy, particularly for neurological disorders. The integration of advanced artificial intelligence models, like LLM, with traditional music therapy techniques brings an unprecedented level of personalization and efficacy to therapeutic interventions. The approach of using artificial deep learning neural networks to simulate the human brain's own deep learning mechanisms is not only ingenious but also offers new avenues for understanding brain-music interaction at a granular level.

Professor Hu’s work demonstrated that the synergy between neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and music perception can potentially revolutionize how we approach treatment for a wide array of neurological conditions, including but not limited to Parkinson's and Dementia. By understanding the neural pathways activated by music, they can optimize artificial neural networks to trigger similar responses, thereby enhancing the therapeutic outcomes. This multi-disciplinary approach promises not only to improve the quality of life for millions of patients but also to open the door for more robust therapeutics.

In summary, Professor Hu introduced a significant piece of work in developing a second generation of music therapy platform based on Ambulosono and WisdomWave, which is an effective and promising therapy for patients living with Parkinson's and Dementia.
