The President of CityU Professor Way KUO led a delegation including the Associate Deans of CityU School of Law Professor LIN Feng (who is also the Director of Centre for Judicial Education and Reserch) and Dr CHEN Lei to visit the National Judges College and the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China at Beijing from 12 to 14 October 2015.

The CityU delegation met Chief Justice ZHOU Qiang, President of the Supreme People’s Court, and Justice HE Rong, Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court in the morning of 13 October 2015. Chief Justice ZHOU highlighted the siginificance of legal training and education for Chinese judges and highly praised the contribution made by City U Chinese judge programmes. He pointed out that the cooperation with City University of Hong Kong needs to be deepened , particularly in the areas of ?commercial law, intellectural property, judicial case studies, one belt one road, and judicial reform between the mainland and Hong Kong. CityU expressed keen interest in more collaboration in the future.?

President of the National Judges College, Professor HUANG Yongwei received the CityU delegation on the same day. He spoke highly of the fruits achieved by the Advanced Programme for Chinese Senior Judges, LLM (Chinese Judges) programme, and JSD (Chinese Senior Judges) programme, all of which were offered by CityU’s School of Law in collaboration with the National Judges College and the Supreme People’s Court. Professor HUANG expected further cooperation between the National Judges College and CityU’s School of Law to cultivate more legal talents for Chinese judiciary. President KUO stressed the importance of such collaboration. He is very supportive of a strong partnership with National Judges College in judges’ training and academic research.
