Course Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic principles of computational chemistry and provide them with the skills to apply computational methods to tackle problems and explain phenomena in chemistry. Through the course, students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of computational chemistry, including the underlying theories and algorithms. They will learn how to utilize computational tools and software to model chemical systems, simulate reactions, and analyze the results. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and practical expertise to leverage computational chemistry techniques to address a variety of research and applied problems in the field of chemistry.

Continuous Assessment: 50%
Examination: 50%
Examination Duration: 2 hours

Starting from Semester A, 2015-16, students must satisfy the following minimum passing requirement for courses offered by CHEM: "minimum of 40% in both coursework and examination components."
